At California State University Long Beach, Darren was a member of the CSULB Law Society and was named to the Dean’s List. He attended Pepperdine University on a scholarship, where he conducted research on campaign finance reform and published two articles in peer-reviewed journals. He served as a Topic Editor for the Pepperdine Beacon and Editor at the Pepperdine Policy Review.
Darren has held multiple positions involving policy and law, including serving as a private investigator assistant and intern at the Center for Law and Military Policy. He worked at Citizens Take Action, where he researched and advocated for local campaign finance reforms. His work across law, policy, and education brings a multidimensional approach to tutoring.
As a tutor, Darren understands the practical and psychological challenges of studying for the LSAT. His greatest strengths as a coach lie in his ability to break down complex stimuli and wordy questions/answers—he understands how to arrive at and convey correct answers in understandable terms while helping students overcome weaknesses. Students Darren has tutored have been accepted to Howard University School of Law, Pepperdine Caruso School of Law, Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, and UC Berkeley School of Law.
Darren’s approach to tutoring involves meeting students where they are, making sure never to lose students when working through tough questions. To Darren, using tricks such as diagramming or avoiding long answers is essential to take advantage of the limited testing time and to arrive at correct answers confidently.
Outside of tutoring, Darren enjoys reading, hypertrophy training, and spending time with his cats and dogs. He also welcomes questions from students about the law school admissions process.
