With 10 years of coaching experience, Jesse has worked with hundreds of students who have been accepted at top schools, including UC Berkeley, UCLA, USC, Georgetown, UMichigan, Emory, Northeastern, and many others. He is passionate about helping pre-law students gain meaningful legal experience to help differentiate themselves in the application process.

Yvette Wilson-Barnes

City University of New York (CUNY) School of Law

Yvette brings 30+ years of experience in higher education, legal education, and nonprofit leadership. She earned a JD from CUNY School of Law and her EdD in higher education management from the University of Pennsylvania. Yvette has 13 years of admissions committee experience at both CUNY School of Law and Union Theological Seminary as the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, reviewing 2,500+ applications during her tenure. She is deeply committed to helping pre-med students learn more about the field through case-based learning.

Ashley Cullinan

Georgetown University Law Center

Ashley graduated with a JD from Georgetown University Law Center, where she interned for the Honorable Judge Saddler at the District of Columbia Superior Court and was Executive Submissions Editor for the Georgetown Law Journal of Legal Ethics. She has over a decade of coaching experience and has helped students gain acceptance to top schools. She helps pre-law students pursue meaningful legal experiences that stand out in the admissions process.

Program Curriculum: 13-Session Overview

Participate in 13 case-based sessions that take you through a litigation case from start to finish.

Session 1:

Begin with an introduction to the legal profession, exploring what lawyers do, where they work, and what draws you to litigation and advocacy.

Session 2:

Get grounded in the case you'll work throughout the program, and learn the pre-suit steps a claim may need to clear before a lawsuit begins.

Session 3:

Turn the case into a lawsuit by drafting the complaint, the first document that frames the case and translates legal claims into facts.

Session 4:

Switch sides to see how the defense responds, from the answer and its affirmative defenses to a motion to dismiss.

Session 5:

Enter discovery and draft the questions and document demands that uncover the facts a case really turns on.

Session 6:

Prepare for the pivotal moment of most cases by building a deposition outline, mastering the funnel technique, and unlocking witness testimony.

Session 7:

Take a live mock deposition, questioning a witness under oath and practicing skills such as listening closely, following up, and knowing when to stop.

Session 8:

Face summary judgment, the motion that ends most cases, and learn to marshal the evidence to show that a jury must decide the verdict.

Session 9:

Step into mediation, where the overwhelming majority of cases actually end, and learn to value a case and negotiate a settlement on your client's behalf.

Session 10:

Prepare for trial by sharpening the story the case will tell and shaping what the jury is allowed to hear.

Session 11:

Write and deliver your opening statement, the jury's first and most lasting impression, and learn to tell a compelling story within the rules.

Session 12:

Deliver your closing argument, tie the evidence together, and learn how a trial resolves.

Session 13:

Present your portfolio of work, reflect on the program, and shape your tailored recommendation letter and next steps for law school.
