Prior to attending Georgetown University Law on a partial merit scholarship, Andrew graduated summa cum laude from the University of Alabama with a BA in political science and history. With several years of LSAT tutoring experience, he has a proven track record of helping students improve their scores by an average of 10 points.
At the University of Alabama, Andrew was the recipient of the Presidential Scholarship. He wrote his senior thesis for his history major about the role of antitrust law in the mergers and acquisitions boom of the 1980s. While writing it, he began to develop an interest in antitrust law, which cemented his decision to apply to law school after graduation. Eventually, this thesis was chosen for publication in the Crimson Historical Review, the University of Alabama's undergraduate historical journal. He ultimately matriculated to Georgetown Law to avail himself of the school’s excellent connections in the antitrust sector of the legal industry.
Since becoming an LSAT tutor, Andrew has developed a proven process to increase scores through an accessible, common-sense method of tutoring. Andrew believes LSAT scores are improved not by memorizing complex acronyms or through punishing study schedules but by a gradual process of review and improvement. This approach allows students to internalize the skills needed to succeed without burning out.
Students Andrew tutors often report score gains of 10-15 points after only a month or two of tutoring, with especially substantial improvements in the Reading Comprehension section, which is his favorite section to teach. Andrew enjoys tutoring the LSAT because he believes it is a fascinating exam that tests real skills for law school. He is passionate about giving applicants the tools they need not only to succeed on the test but to also hit the ground running in their legal education journeys.
For fun, Andrew enjoys reading about social issues and history, playing basketball and baseball, strength training, and watching college football. He will often spend Saturdays in the fall cheering on the Crimson Tide. Andrew has also read 50 books a year the last three years and hopes to achieve a similar goal this year.

Julia holds a Bachelor's degree in computer science and computational biology from the University of Toronto. She has seven years of tutoring experience and achieved a perfect score of 180 on the LSAT.
In addition to her LSAT expertise, Julia brings a strong background in education and competitive academics. While studying at the University of Toronto, Julia worked as an undergraduate researcher at the Princess Margaret Cancer Research Centre, building machine learning pipelines for cancer biomarker detection. She currently serves as the Head Debate Coach at Havergal College, a historic independent school in Toronto, where she works with some of Canada's top under-16 debaters.
Teaching has been a throughline in Julia's life, beginning with years spent tutoring peers in her high school and university coursework. This combination of competitive reasoning and one-on-one instruction informs the way she breaks down the logic at the heart of the LSAT. Julia found that studying for the LSAT felt like solving an interesting puzzle that she genuinely enjoyed. That experience shaped how she now teaches: she believes the LSAT rewards curiosity and careful thinking, and students who learn to see it that way are the ones who improve the most.
Julia’s tutoring philosophy is simple. She believes that the test is meant to be learned, not a test of innate aptitude. Julia teaches students to build genuine intuition for the logical frameworks underlying each question type, rather than relying on shortcuts that collapse under pressure.
When she isn’t tutoring, Julia can be found running, sewing, or playing League of Legends. A fun fact about her is that everyone in her immediate family speaks Chinese except for her.

In addition to his tutoring background, Paysen brings a strong record of academic achievement and professional advising experience. At Angelo State University, he was awarded a Distinguished Graduate Scholarship while maintaining a 4.0 in his graduate program in security studies. Before becoming a private LSAT tutor, Paysen spent over three years as a family service counselor, an advising-heavy role that increased his ability to guide people through high-stakes, often unfamiliar decisions—a skill set he applies directly to LSAT prep.
As an LSAT tutor, Paysen has explored numerous resources and tested strategies to ensure that his approaches work for all test-takers, from pre-law students to career changers. He believes that LSAT tutoring should be heavily student-centered. He adapts his approach to cater to a student's needs, whether they prefer more formal instruction or a more laid-back atmosphere. Paysen believes that every session should be comfortable and engaging.
Paysen’s approach to tutoring focuses on the fundamentals. He helps students develop consistent question identification, leading to an understanding of the question's purpose. Instead of the overwhelming task of improving the LSAT generally, Paysen helps to break down the test, questions, Logical Reasoning, and Reading Comprehension into distinct parts that are much more manageable for students, leading to substantial score increases.
A fun fact about Paysen is that he has played the guitar for three years and loves writing his own songs and music.
Richard Banfield
Eastern Michigan University
Director of Tutoring
Richard holds a Bachelor’s degree in marketing analytics from Eastern Michigan University. He scored a perfect 180 on the LSAT and has four years of tutoring experience. Students Richard has tutored have achieved LSAT scores as high as 179, with students increasing their scores by 10 points on average.
Richard’s professional background sits at the intersection of law, education, and technology. He worked in legal technology and software account management, including roles involving Westlaw, CoCounsel, AI-powered legal research tools, and legal research platforms used by attorneys, law firms, courts, government teams, and academic institutions. Through this work, he developed a strong understanding of how legal professionals research, write, evaluate arguments, and adapt to emerging technology in the legal field. He has worked as a Software Account Manager at IBM and Thomson Reuters.
As a tutor, Richard has extensive experience helping students at a wide range of starting points. He has worked with students building foundational reasoning skills, students trying to move out of score plateaus, and high-scoring students aiming to break into the 170s. His tutoring emphasizes precision, structure, and confidence: helping students understand not only which answer is correct, but why the reasoning works and how to recognize similar patterns in future questions.
Richard has worked with students across a wide range of score bands. Students who work with him consistently often see meaningful gains, commonly around 8–12 points, with larger increases possible depending on their starting point, timeline, study consistency, and review process. Richard has helped students gain admission to schools across the T-14 and T-30, including Stanford Law School, New York University School of Law, Duke University School of Law, University of Michigan Law School, University of Virginia School of Law, Cornell Law School, and Notre Dame Law School.
Richard is especially passionate about working with students who may not have had access to traditional LSAT resources. He has volunteered significant time providing LSAT instruction to students who could not otherwise afford private tutoring, including recurring one-on-one support and group instruction. That work has shaped his tutoring philosophy: strong LSAT performance is not about memorizing tricks, but about learning how to read carefully, identify reasoning patterns, and build repeatable decision-making habits. Richard believes students improve most when they receive honest feedback, clear next steps, and a study strategy tailored to their goals.
Outside of tutoring, Richard enjoys following developments in legal technology and AI, working with students as they navigate the law school admissions process, exploring new coffee shops, and spending time in Ann Arbor and Chicago. A fun fact about Richard is that he enjoys film and improv acting.

Students she has tutored have increased their LSAT scores by an average of 15 points, with some pre-law students scoring as high as 177.
At George Washington University, Maya served as a Captain of the university’s nationally competitive Mock Trial team and was a Women's Leadership Program Honors Scholar. She has also served as a Student Advisory Board member with the American Mock Trial Association and gained public service and sustainability experience through roles with the Office of U.S. Senator Cory Booker and the Smithsonian Institution Science Center.
Maya earned a 178 on the LSAT through continued dedication, giving her insight into how students can make major score gains through disciplined, strategic preparation. Her greatest strength as a tutor is her ability to simplify the LSAT. She believes the exam is often taught in a complicated way, leaving students overwhelmed by terminology, strategies, and rules. Instead, she teaches students how to translate difficult arguments and passages into their own words, making complex ideas easier to understand. Students she has tutored have been accepted to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Law, Georgetown University Law Center, the University of Michigan Law School, the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, and others.
Maya’s teaching style follows an “I do, we do, you do” model. Maya first demonstrates a concept or question type, then works through examples collaboratively with students before gradually transitioning responsibility to them. Her approach emphasizes attacking every argument, identifying why a conclusion doesn’t necessarily follow from the evidence, predicting the correct answer, and learning to enjoy the challenge of the test rather than fear it.
Maya is passionate about tutoring because she knows how transformative a strong LSAT score can be. Throughout her own journey, she benefited from mentors who challenged her to trust her reasoning and think critically. Watching students achieve scores they once thought were out of reach remains the most rewarding part of her work.
Outside of tutoring, Maya enjoys running, boxing, and fiction books (ask her about Project Hail Mary or Fourth Wing!). She can also solve a Rubik’s cube in under 30 seconds.

Nicole has also completed fully funded fellowships in UX design through the Adobe Digital Academy and General Assembly.
Nicole believes that growth comes from critical thinking, not rote memorization. Through self-study, she learned to diagnose her weaknesses in timing, logic, and test-taking mindsets and to build iterative performance-improvement systems. Now, as an LSAT tutor, she uses verbal and visual tools to translate abstract, logical concepts into intuitive frameworks that sharpen students’ reasoning skills. The key LSAT “hack” is a student’s innate ability to thoroughly question information, rather than passively accept it.
As a first-generation college graduate from a working-class family, Nicole firmly believes that the admissions and LSAT prep process can be an exciting and empowering experience for students from all backgrounds. Nicole looks forward to sharing her insights and creating a supportive space where students feel challenged and motivated.
Outside of tutoring, Nicole is a beginner surfer with plenty of stories about her early attempts to catch waves in Oaxaca, Mexico. She knows how dense and confusing the LSAT can be, which is why she emphasizes the importance of simplifying the test down to its logical structure.
When working with students, Celina believes in customizing each session, knowing that all students have different needs—she understands that the same student may benefit from different techniques across tutoring sessions. Celina thoroughly analyzes student needs and is always happy to modify the pace or subject matter as needed.
