Nicole Chavez, a Private LSAT Tutor at Juris Education

Prior to attending Columbia Law School on a partial-tuition scholarship, Nicole graduated with distinction from Yale University with a Bachelor's degree in political science and ethnicity, race, and migration. She scored a 175 on the LSAT and has four years of tutoring experience.

In addition to her tutoring background, Nicole brings over six years of professional experience in immigration and environmental justice advocacy. She has held roles at prominent legal nonprofits, including serving as an immigration policy analyst at UnidosUS, a Project Coordinator at Centro de los Derechos del Migrante, and an asylum and detention paralegal at the New Haven Legal Assistance Association. Nicole also served as Program Coordinator for the Climate Change and Environmental Justice Program at Lawyers for Good Government. Alongside her work in the nonprofit sector, Nicole has dedicated herself to admissions consulting and LSAT tutoring, supporting applicants with essay writing, standardized testing, interview preparation, and overall admissions strategizing.

Nicole is the co-author of a journal article published in the UCLA Journal of Environmental Law and Policy that examines climate-related displacement and refugee protection in the United States, and a co-author of a policy report published by UnidosUS and the Center for Law and Social Policy. Nicole has also completed fully funded fellowships in UX design through the Adobe Digital Academy and General Assembly.

Nicole believes that growth comes from critical thinking, not rote memorization. Through self-study, she learned to diagnose her weaknesses in timing, logic, and test-taking mindsets and to build iterative performance-improvement systems. Now, as an LSAT tutor, she uses verbal and visual tools to translate abstract, logical concepts into intuitive frameworks that sharpen students’ reasoning skills. The key LSAT “hack” is a student’s innate ability to thoroughly question information, rather than passively accept it.

As a first-generation college graduate from a working-class family, Nicole firmly believes that the admissions and LSAT prep process can be an exciting and empowering experience for students from all backgrounds. Nicole looks forward to sharing her insights and creating a supportive space where students feel challenged and motivated.

Outside of tutoring, Nicole is a beginner surfer with plenty of stories about her early attempts to catch waves in Oaxaca, Mexico. She is also an avid practitioner of Buddhist meditation and mindfulness, having participated in retreats with Dharma Gates, a nonprofit that provides free meditation experiences for young adults across the United States.
