After taking a gap year, John raised his LSAT score by 9 points into the 99th percentile. This transformative experience, coupled with his formal training in rhetoric, gave him a deep, structural understanding of the test that few tutors can match.
While at Syracuse, John successfully balanced an intense academic load with numerous extracurriculars, including entering the university with a competitive scholarship from the Air Force ROTC program. As a key member and later leader in the Syracuse Competitive Mock Trial program, John competed as both a closing attorney and a witness, earning multiple Best Witness and Best Attorney awards at tournaments, along with All-Star recognition from his team. He also coached first-year team members to award-winning performances. Adding to his strong track record, he was formally recognized by two professors for “Great Critical Thinking” and as “Best Student” in his senior year.
John’s passion for teaching extends beyond academics. He has taught swim lessons to fellow students in need, drawing on his own experience as a high school swim athlete. As an LSAT tutor, John is eager to share his hard-won insight with students and help them achieve similar success. Known for his engaging, dynamic style, John helps students strip away the LSAT’s intimidation factor by breaking down its patterns with humor, clarity, and simple, actionable strategies. His goal is to help students see through the test, maximize their scores, and reach their full potential. Students he has tutored have raised their scores by 5 points on average.
Outside of tutoring, John stays extremely active. He believes physical health is key to mental performance and spends his free time doing jiu-jitsu, other combat sports, and weightlifting. He also enjoys strategy games, cooking, reading, and spending time with loved ones.
