During his undergraduate studies, Jakob competed as a Division I rower at UC San Diego while earning multiple academic honors and scholarships. Prior to attending Fielding Graduate University, Jakob conducted research with the Medical University of South Carolina, where he analyzed nationwide patient data, performed statistical analyses in Python, and co-authored a peer-reviewed publication in the International Journal of Telerehabilitation. He also applied his analytical skills as a medical assistant and lab technician at Northwest Spine and Pain Medicine, developing automated tools that improved clinical workflows. Jakob received a scholarship to attend the National Perinatal Association’s Annual Conference, and was later invited to serve on the organization’s Board of Directors.
As a coach, Jakob’s greatest strengths are his ability to diagnose the specific reasoning habits limiting a student’s progress and translate difficult concepts into practical, repeatable strategies. His sessions are collaborative and goal-oriented, with instruction tailored to each student’s learning style, performance data, and target score. Rather than relying on rigid formulas, he helps students understand the structure of arguments, identify patterns across question types, and develop a decision-making process they can trust under timed conditions.
Jakob is especially passionate about helping students move beyond score plateaus and recognizes that LSAT success is a learnable skill rather than an innate talent. Drawing on his experience in tutoring, behavioral science, and quantitative research, Jakob helps students understand not only why an answer is correct, but also how to recognize and apply the underlying reasoning to future questions. He strives to provide students with the strategic guidance, honest feedback, and encouragement necessary to approach the exam with confidence.
Outside of coaching, Jakob enjoys reading, strength training, hiking, and experimenting with coding and automation projects. He also values spending time with friends and family. A fun fact about him is that he’s almost always in the middle of reading a couple of books and loves getting recommendations from other people.
