Prior to completing a JD/LLM in international and comparative law at Duke University, Harriet worked as a risk and compliance consultant and participated in a pre-law fellowship program, interning at a top law firm in Washington, D.C. Throughout law school and after graduating, she worked at Kirkland & Ellis, a top 25 law firm.

Harriet earned a Bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Maryland, College Park. While studying at Duke University School of Law, she was involved in organizations such as the International Law Society, Black Law Student Association, Women of Color Collective, and Competition Law Society. She also worked with the admissions office as a student representative, where she spoke with prospective students about the Duke community and connected applicants with current law students with similar interests. Additionally, she participated in the International Human Rights Clinic and Health Justice Clinic.

As the first person in her family to attend law school in the United States, Harriet is passionate about guiding others through the application process and leveraging her background, education, and professional experiences to guide students to their dream careers. Students Harriet has coached have been accepted to top schools including Duke, Northwestern, and UC Berkeley, among others.

Throughout her own admissions journey, she found creative ways to find mentorship, such as reaching out to professional connections, current law students, and learning how to “cold call” experienced individuals. She aims to share her knowledge and connections to help applicants submit successful applications and choose the right academic environment to thrive in.

Harriet recognizes there are many choices and factors involved in the law school application process. She excels at cost-benefit analyses of law schools and ensures students make informed choices that prioritize both their short-term and long-term goals. She focuses on application strategies that are flexible and efficient for busy students. Harriet believes each candidate can create a competitive application when the process is broken into manageable steps and the candidate highlights their strengths.

Harriet particularly enjoys helping students craft notable personal statements. She aims to help applications build genuine stories without forcing a predetermined, cliche message to the admissions committee. This way, the process and outcome remain authentic and personal, rather than just another box to tick on the application checklist.

When Harriet isn’t coaching, she enjoys traveling, reading fantasy and romance novels, and reviewing Chicago restaurants.
