Professionally, Malyika has worked in recruitment and diversity and inclusion at a big law firm in Toronto, where she led recruitment efforts for 1L and 2L candidates and strategized ways to enhance the firm’s diversity policies. Additionally, she became a published author with a children’s book that features a South Asian Muslim protagonist, addressing the underrepresentation of diverse characters in children’s literature.
Malyika is well-equipped to guide students through both the Canadian and US law school admissions processes. Having received offers from every Ontario law school and multiple T-14 law schools, along with significant scholarships, Malyika’s achievements demonstrate her deep understanding of what it takes to succeed in the competitive admissions landscape. During her undergraduate years, while serving as Vice-President of her school's mock trial team, she initiated drop-in office hours to support students interested in law school. During these sessions, she helped develop personalized roadmaps for success and edited personal statements. As a result, these students were accepted into their dream law schools.
What makes Malyika passionate about coaching applicants is her firsthand understanding of the challenges and barriers faced by first-generation law students. She strives to simplify the application process and guide candidates toward showcasing their unique strengths. Malyika is dedicated to supporting students throughout their journey to their dream law schools, offering encouragement and assistance at every step.
As a coach, Malyika excels at breaking down the complex and daunting law school application process into manageable steps. By collaborating with students to create a clear, structured plan, she ensures they meet deadlines, highlight their unique strengths, and present a compelling application. By focusing on one step at a time, she aims to reduce stress, build confidence, and empower candidates to put forth their best effort, making the process more achievable and less intimidating. Additionally, she is skilled in storytelling and helping students craft personal statements that are well-written, visceral, and compelling.
