Discover what sets Western State College of Law apart

Juris Education interviewed the admissions team at Western State College of Law for an exclusive look at what sets the school apart.

What makes Western State College of Law stand out from the competition?

Western State College of Law provides a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere where students are viewed not only as learners but also as future colleagues. “What makes us truly unique is our interactive community engagement among faculty, students, and staff,” states Rhonda Cohen, Assistant Dean of Admissions. The small class sizes enable students and faculty to connect on a personal level, fostering strong relationships and creating a supportive, collegial environment.

Our professors bring real-world experience to the classroom, having practiced law before becoming educators, which offers students practical insight and prepares them for their careers. Located in the heart of Orange County, our upcoming newly upgraded campus offers access to courthouses, law firms, beaches, entertainment, and more.

We offer a scholarship program that allows students to earn scholarships based on their academic performance from year to year. "We provide various scheduling options—including part-time day and evening programs in addition to a standard full-time program—and robust law clinics in immigration, entrepreneurship, criminal defense, and probate.". Students also gain practical experience early on through externships and participation in our honors moot court, negotiation team, and mock trial competitions. Our 88.24% February 2025 first-time bar pass rate, strong employment outcomes, and robust alumni network contribute to long-term student success.

Which qualities can students build during their time at Western State College of Law?

Students at Western State develop professionalism, practical skills, and confidence in a supportive, close-knit academic community. From day one, administrators and faculty treat students as future legal professionals. "Admins and faculty consider students future colleagues rather than entering law students,” Cohen notes. "A prospective student who attended an admissions onsite information and tour session even remarked that professors addressed them as equals."

Through engaging clinic work, direct mentorship, and interactive small classes, students cultivate real-world skills and professional confidence. The upcoming move to a state-of-the-art building reinforces Western State’s commitment to growth and enhancing the student experience. Graduates also become part of a welcoming community and an alumni network that actively supports and uplifts fellow Western State graduates.
