At UC Irvine, Sophia was a member of the Pre-Law Society and a University of California Education Abroad Program (UCEAP) alumni panelist—she was recognized with the UCEAP Inclusive Excellence Award. Her tutoring experience began during her undergraduate studies, leading weekly English literature courses for more than 40 students. She created interactive lessons focused on reading comprehension and vocabulary and also provided private English and Korean tutoring. These experiences taught her how to explain challenging material in multiple ways and recognize when a student needs a different approach. After graduating, she worked for two years as a litigation paralegal at SHIN Law Group before beginning law school.
Sophia began her legal education at Georgetown University Law Center, where she was named an Opportunity Scholar and RISE Fellow and earned a place on the Dean’s List. She later transferred to NYU School of Law, and she will later join a corporate law firm in New York as a summer associate.
When Sophia started studying to take the LSAT, she created her own structured study schedule, identified the areas where she needed the most improvement, and began averaging 175 on full-length practice tests. That experience shaped her belief that LSAT improvement comes not only from learning strategies, but also from consistency, deliberate practice, and becoming comfortable with the exam under realistic testing conditions.
Sophia works with students to become comfortable with the format of the test itself, identify recurring patterns in their performance, understand their strengths and weaknesses, and develop a study plan that fits their goals and schedule. Her goal is to help students understand not only what they are getting wrong, but why, and to give them concrete strategies they can apply independently to hone their skills. Sophia understands that preparing for the LSAT is only one part of the demanding law school application process. As a first-generation law student who navigated much of the process on her own, she is passionate about sharing the study methods, strategies, and practical lessons she wished she had known from the beginning. She aims to make the process more manageable by giving students a clear place to start, a structured plan for improvement, and a tutor they can rely on throughout their preparation.
In her free time, Sophia enjoys exploring new restaurants and cafés, especially now that she is based in New York City.
