Jason Shefferman, a Private LSAT Tutor at Juris Education

Jason earned a Bachelor’s degree in philosophy with a concentration in cognitive psychology and the philosophy of action and mind from Miami University. He went on to earn a JD from Washington University School of Law. With five years of tutoring experience, Jason has helped students achieve scores as high as 179 on the LSAT.

At Miami University, Jason served as a formal logic teaching assistant at Miami University, where he designed and taught lessons on translating ordinary arguments into symbolic notation and testing whether conclusions actually followed from their premises. That training is the backbone of how he teaches Logical Reasoning and how he helps students think clearly under timing pressure. He also has experience teaching the LSAT through work with private firms.

At WashU Law, Jason arrived on a merit scholarship through the Scholar in Law Award and negotiated it up to double the original award. He founded the Wellness in Law & Life Society and served as its founding President. Jason also served on the Dean's Student Advisory Committee, worked as a staff editor on the Washington University Jurisprudence Review, and represented startup founders through the Entrepreneurship Clinic. Jason was named a Class Acts honoree, a recognition given to graduating students for their contribution to the community, and his classmates selected him as Voice of the Class to deliver the commencement address.

Currently, Jason is a member of the D.C. Bar. He practiced corporate law at Cooley LLP, where his work centered on venture capital financings. He was one of four lawyers named as leading the team that advised CargoSense on its recent strategic investment and partnership with MegaChips Corporation.

Jason brings high energy and steady optimism to his tutoring sessions. Because he learns visually, Jason teaches visually, mapping arguments and question structures on the page so students can see how the pieces fit, then turning each drawing into a repeatable process a student can run on their own. He starts by diagnosing how someone processes information and where the breakdown is actually happening, whether that is a misread question type, a habit that falls apart under timing, or an unsustainable study plan.

Jason’s approach to tutoring focuses on blind review as a daily discipline rather than an occasional exercise. He breaks preparation into steps small enough to start on today, sets clear goals for each week, and treats test-day nerves as a performance problem with real strategies attached. His greatest strength is meeting students at their level. Students Jason has tutored have gained admission to top law schools, including Yale Law School, Harvard Law School, the University of Virginia School of Law, Duke University School of Law, Washington University School of Law, Georgetown School of Law, and others.

Outside of tutoring, Jason is a distance runner and former natural bodybuilder who spends his free time traveling, training, and talking to people about whatever they are most passionate about. He once circumnavigated the globe in three months while backpacking!
