Jason Shefferman, a Law School Admissions Consultant at Juris Education

Jason earned a JD from Washington University School of Law, where he served as a student admissions ambassador and was involved in making final admissions decisions. With five years of coaching experience, Jason has helped students get into top law schools, including the University of Virginia School of Law, Duke University School of Law, Washington University School of Law, and others.

Jason earned his Bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Miami University, with a concentration in cognitive psychology and the philosophy of action and mind. Throughout his undergraduate studies, he spent two years working as a paralegal and associate at Webster Chamberlain & Bean, LLP. He also served as a formal logic teaching assistant at Miami University and tutored for the LSAT at a private firm. During this time, he founded Shefferman Coaching, a practice that covers pre-law services and the wellness habits that help people build the life they actually want.

At WashU Law, Jason arrived on a merit scholarship through the Scholar in Law Award and negotiated it up to double the original award. He founded the Wellness in Law & Life Society and served as its founding President. Jason also served on the Dean's Student Advisory Committee, worked as a staff editor on the Washington University Jurisprudence Review, and represented startup founders through the Entrepreneurship Clinic. Jason was named a Class Acts honoree, a recognition given to graduating students for their contribution to the community, and his classmates selected him as Voice of the Class to deliver the commencement address.

Currently, Jason is a member of the D.C. Bar and practiced corporate law at Cooley LLP, where his work centered on venture capital financings. He was one of four lawyers named as leading the team that advised CargoSense on its recent strategic investment and partnership with MegaChips Corporation.

Jason was originally a pre-med student before transitioning majors, and coaches now to be the guide he wished he had throughout his own admissions journey. When working with students, he brings high energy and steady optimism. Jason starts by figuring out how someone processes information and where the breakdown is happening rather than treating every applicant’s journey the same. He breaks the admissions process into steps small enough to start on today and set clear goals for each week, so applicants always know what they are working on next. Jason's greatest strengths as a coach include diagnosing exactly where a student is stuck, building study plans someone can sustain, helping applicants find the one thing they most want a reader to understand about them, and helping students follow their ambitions while prioritizing their well-being.

Outside of coaching, Jason is a distance runner and a former natural bodybuilder. He spends his free time traveling, training, and talking to people about whatever they are most passionate about. A fun fact about Jason is that he circumnavigated the globe in three months while backpacking.
