Ryan’s legal experience spans several fields, including immigration, health care, insurance, and personal injury law. He has briefed and argued before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, advocated on behalf of detained immigrants in federal removal proceedings, and defended first responders and emergency medical providers in state court. Ryan currently practices law in Idaho and works as an attorney at Tolman Brizee & Cannon P.C.
Ryan’s background in advocacy and education supports a holistic, strategic, and results-oriented counseling style. He brings a sharp focus on strategy, persuasive writing, and results-driven coaching. He has also worked with a wide range of students, including those aiming for competitive programs as well as those overcoming academic challenges, and has helped turn “reach” schools into realities. Ryan understands the demands of the admissions process and is committed to maximizing each student’s unique potential.
Ryan’s admissions approach is deeply informed by his broad experience as a teacher, chess coach, baseball coach, and debate coach. With a lifelong history of one-on-one mentorship, he has worked with individuals from all walks of life—whether urban or rural, international or domestic, high-achieving or non-traditional. He focuses on understanding what sets each applicant apart and helps spotlight those qualities in a way that compels admissions committees to take notice.
A fun fact about Ryan is that he has set regional records and claimed championships in chess, speech, and debate! He also grew up in a small Idaho town and has since resided in diverse locales such as Washington, D.C., Sweden, and Italy.
